Rick Bachalo

President

Bio

As president of Canada ICI, Rick Bachalo is responsible for overall leadership with a primary focus on growing CICI’s commercial mortgage origination business which funds in excess of $7 Billion annually across eight branch locations (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Victoria) with assets under management of $5 billion. Rick’s other responsibilities include fostering brokerage and underwriting relationships across the country while spearheading strategic initiatives with trusted lending sources and bolstering internal capital.

Rick formerly served as Vice President, Mortgage Investments for the Canada Life Assurance Company. Rick was accountable for commercial mortgage origination nationally across its five Canadian branch offices during his tenure.

With a successful track record of over 35 years in commercial real estate markets, Rick has gained expertise in both the equity and lending sides of the business.

Recognized in the commercial real estate industry, he has been involved in all property types (including office, retail, industrial, apartments, retirement centers, hotels, and self-storage facilities) across the U.S. and Canada.

Rick is a past board member of both the Real Estate Institute of Manitoba and the Appraisal Institute of Manitoba, as well as a former board member for Centre Venture Development Corporation, an arms-length agency of the City of Winnipeg leading the revitalization of Downtown Winnipeg. Rick also served on the board of UM Properties LP, developing lands in accordance with the University of Manitoba’s Visionary Master Plan.
