Sam Peterson

Bio

Sam joined Canada ICI as a summer student in 2023 and recently graduated from the Asper School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), majoring in Finance. Since joining the firm, he has underwritten and funded over $500 million in debt, working directly with both borrowers and lenders to ensure smooth, end-to-end transaction execution.

I joined Canada ICI because I wanted to work at a firm with a national footprint and deep expertise in commercial real estate finance where I can learn from industry leaders and contribute to meaningful, market-leading transactions.

I like working in commercial real estate finance because it requires a blend of analytical thinking, market insight, and relationship management. Every deal presents a new challenge and fresh learning opportunities.

I believe the keys to success are hard work, dedication, and consistently showing up, not just delivering on time, but showing up mentally engaged and ready to add value.

I am working towards becoming a trusted advisor to our clients by continuously improving my technical skills and deepening my understanding of diverse asset classes and capital structures.

Working at Canada ICI has taught me how disciplined underwriting, responsive communication, and a collaborative mindset create trust with both clients and colleagues and how that trust drives repeat business.
